You really have to do it to know what it is like. Seeing it only you cannot know what its like. I experienced this for the first time a week ago and am still feeling the joy from the experience.

  2. newyorkpeggi says:

Why are so many people soooo intolerant of things others enjoy? Unless you’ve tried this, I don’t know how anyone can have an opinion. I had my first experience of 5rhythms dance the other day in Australia. Best thing I’ve ever experienced on a dance floor! Love it! ps.s not a hippie thing – it’s for anyone who wants to feel in touch with their physicality.

  3. cisco4k says:

‘m little worried, because I will have to perform 5 rhythms in the kindergarten with children..I was introduced to the 5 Rhythms at the 2008 Burning Man 2008. I was blown away

  8. JJRavinsky says:

Because mature adults understand that sure, these people may be hippies, but humans are always trying and learning new things.

Pissing yourself with laughter is evidence of your immaturity.

  9. paulferrie says:

    LOVE the chaos!!

I was introduced to the 5 Rhythms at the 2008 Burning Man 2008. I was blown away. I am going to try to introduce 5 Rhythms to our local small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Good luck ?

Gabrielle inspires me infinitely ! Her work to help the dancer to meet the dance is enormous for body/soul connection. I use her music a lot for our dancing satsang here in our osho group in Mauritius.

  16. MonaLieske says:

We did this a few times in my dance class. In the beginning it felt really weird, but after a few times it got better and it actually felt great. I don’t think I have ever felt so free and relieved and in touch with myself.

  17. matteja says:

Oh, we had one-hour class on college from 5 rhythm’s. You get very exhausted and breathless- especially because of chaos!
I’m little worried, because I will have to perform 5 rhythms in the kindergarten with children…

  18. strongandable says:

Welllll — what a wild and beautiful way to explore the Dyonissian segement of our human being! But what makes this different than a rave? Do both explore the same dynamic?
I read and enjoyed and learned from several of Roth’s books — unfortunately loaned them and they never came back?

  19. RockingJulia says:

She makes sense. I bet you could pick your own music and do similar thing and get it out that way. Lots of teens dancing to rock or something else on their own in the garage practically do something like this intiutively. Adults need to be taught. I picked up her DVD in the library. Glad I did.

  20. cookey83 says:

Excellent that sounds like a wonderful plan to me. Let us all do that.

  21. sonjahelene says:

Yes. and on this (letting go and accepting) I hope, I try, I continue to work and play.

  22. cookey83 says:

Let go of your elitism and accept all aspect of humanity into the twisted beauty of the world.

  23. cookey83 says:

Yes I agree that the dance does not work for dancers who psyche is expansive and in tune with more aspects of their environment and the universe than the other lesser psyche’s cannot even comprehend because of their own blind internalism. To abandon one aspect of your nature because it is socially unacceptable or conjures animalistic inappropriatacies is to deny the existence of the whole truth for a semi truth patched up with cotton candy fairy tales.

  24. sonjahelene says:

While behavioral methods and even RET are frequently practiced on the involuntary, this stuff is better reserved for folks seeking and welcoming awareness. consciousness junkies sometimes tend to think that’s everybody; sometimes I need this kind of wake up call.

  25. sonjahelene says:

thanks, the post enabled me to reflect on some things that we as psych workers tend to do: impose our techniques on involuntary participants. This rhythm stuff is definately psych work that may not work well in an audience in which a participant is externalizing alot of unreflected aggression.
